简介
The title "Original" does not only indicate the fact that the album is a collection of original Brazilian Jazz at its finest, but it embodies, “feelings that one can only experience in special moments of life, the musical search for a world that does not follow the crowd and it is not afraid to be original…even the approach of the production defies the rules of the industry with a real cross over product both in English and Portuguese, using only real instruments and a sound that is unique.” The band is directed by the Latin Grammy award winning Brazilian Bassist Leo Nobre and the powerful yet sultry vocals of its lead singer, Mari Nobre. Mari wrote the lyrics for the entire album, except for the two covers “Fascinating Rhythm” and “Up Where We Belong.” Mari also wrote music and lyrics for the first single "Thank You" and its Portuguese version “Obrigada”, a very uplifting world music tune with amazing horn arrangements by Scott Mayo. The music for “Gosto De Voce" and "Linda" is written by Mari Nobre and P. Lockwood and arranged by Leo Nobre. They are bright and ironic bossa nova tunes flirting with melody and rhythm. This tunes features international musicians like Brazilian pianist Marcos Ariel, Colombian flute player Justo Almario and one of the most iconic percussionist in the history of samba Carlinhos Pandeiro de Ouro. The song "And Now" is a perfect song for candlelight and a Smooth jazz audience featuring a sensual bass performance by Leo Nobre. "One More Song" is written by Leo Nobre and Mari Nobre featuring Frank Petrlli at accordion, a fairy tale samba that finds romance in the imperfect beauty of true love. The excellent ballad "Canto da Terra" written by Leo Nobre with percussion arrangement by Latin Grammy nominee Pete Korpela, completes the album with an introspective journey into harmonic depth and virtuosity. "Fascinating Rhythm" is a Jazz classic with exciting original arrangements by Jovino Santos Neto and the great Hubert Laws at flute. "Up Where We Belong" is a wonderful and danceable remake of the Oscar awarded tune from the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" in a revolutionary Samba Reggae rhythm.
