“Sherry’s music is a rewarding listen. With fresh melodies and believable lyrics, I’ll have to include it in my road trip collection. Cool voice, also!” —Grammy-winning producer/musician Lloyd Maines “Sherry Austin’s material has the rough-hewn sensitivity of a Robert Earl Keen, a Fred Eaglesmith or a Slaid Cleaves. But her powerful, clear voice adds a feminine dimension that is totally fresh. She’s got such a great voice. People listening across the country are going to get a whole new feel for a popular form because it’s coming from a woman’s perspective.” —Tom Miller, booker, Henflings International Folk & Acoustic Concert Series A relative newcomer to the acoustic Americana scene, Austin earned respectful notices for her debut album Drive By Romance, a down-to-earth, rootsy collection of philosophical ballads, thoughtfully detailed story songs — many about cars or characters on metaphorical journeys — and covers of influential songwriters like Gillian Welch and Slaid Cleaves. She and her band have earned more fans opening shows for John Hiatt, Jesse Winchester, Robert Earl Keen, David Bromberg, Iris Dement, and Slaid Cleaves. Not too shabby for someone who started writing songs just a few short years ago. Sherry's second CD, Drive On Back, is now available.
