简介

Hue, as we know it today, is a group that continues to defy all classifications of genre. Formed only a few years ago, Hue has managed to continue writing, recording, and performing for their ever-expanding fan base. Hue’s current line up has been a long time in the making. Lead vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Danny Paton and drummer Andrew Schmidt experienced the coming and going of several members before joining with bassist Darcy Finck. With the recent departure of their lead guitarist, Danny Paton has begun to play electric guitar during their live shows – allowing the band to adapt with the loss without losing any of the sound. Guest member and concertmaster, Mary-Elizabeth Brown, often provides Hue with beautiful violin work, in the studio and onstage. The bands strengths span many strata’s of music. Their latest release was recorded at a remarkably fast pace. Due to preparedness, attention to detail, and vision some tracks were recorded in only a single take. Hue’s live show has grown over the years into something worth experiencing. Combining countless hours of rehearsals, experience, and a few tricks up their sleeves and you’ve got a show that is uniquely Hue. The boys also have a keen intellect for crowd control - tending to the needs of any crowd in nearly any venue. Hue’s latest self-titled album was recorded with the help of producer Michael “Mikey T” Tompkins (Shad K, Matthew Johnston) at the People’s Palace in London, Ontario. The nine tracks on the album cross many musical genres. The album opens with the harmonious epic Belong, continuing on to the crunchy rock anthem A Part of You, and ending with the sweeping strings of Until Then. The band constantly jokes that they could never decide on one radio station to showcase the material on the album. Defining the sound of Hue has always been a struggle for both the band and their following. At their core, the songs can be loosely defined as “pop rock”. Yet upon listening to either their recordings or live performance, you will soon notice that there is something unique to be heard. Under the honest and thoughtful lyrics lies gripping, innovative electric guitar work, distinctive keyboard as well as thunderous drumming and flowing bass lines. The only true way to experience this band is in the eyes and ears. In a time of stagnant modern pop and rock and roll, Hue is a breath of fresh air.
