He was called the "Gene Krupa of Germany" - drummer and bandleader Fritz "Freddie" Brocksieper who became an icon of the German Jazz Scene in the Nineteen Fifties due to his regular concerts in the legendary Munich Jazz Club "Studio 15" which was founded in 1952. Freddie was a master of many styles, from classical swing that he he performed with his big band formation to modern jazz, very often also experimenting with sounds that are usually not connected with this genre as e.g. an organ or an accordion.
