简介
This EP is the culmination of all my jazz influences growing up in Oakland,California in the '50s and '60s. I can fondly recall my dad driving me - over the entire summer of '59 - across the bay to San Francisco so I could attend the Saturday matinee performances of so many of the jazz greats appearing at the Blackhawk. I swear, there were some Saturday afternoons when I was the only kid in the joint; an underage enthusiast behind the wire mesh. Miles, still sporting his trademark polka-dot tie, pointing in my direction, "Here's one for you, kid" and Getz buying me a Shirley Temple at the break between sets. A special thanks goes out to my friend, Roger Bartlett, who arranged, engineered and produced these tunes. Rogg, without your knowledge and genius this EP wouldn't exist. As well, thanks to all the gifted artists who performed on these recordings; my vocalists: Madeline Rhodes, Joyce Stovall, Ty Stephens and Natalie Smith; my instrumentalists: Roger Bartlett, Jeff Pittson, Lou Rainone, Barry Danielian and David Mann. An extra special thanks to my wife, Charlene and my son, Michael for their love and encouragement.
