简介
In 2007 Oakland's Youth Movement Records and San Francisco's Youth Noise chose Coco Peila's song Any Day Now to commission a music video for Youth Noise's "Healthy Body Image" campaign. Any Day Now went on to be selected to be a part of the International Museum Of Women and receive over 30K hits on Youtube. She competed in Youth Speak's National Youth Poetry slams throughout her teens, and became a National Slam champion in 2005 while representing the EastBay team in Youth Speak's international youth poetry festival Brave New Voices. Coco is responsible for the creation, curation, and production of The RealNeRds Mixtape Project; a two part series comprised of mixtapes and release parties featuring indie artists from across the U.S. and New Zealand. Coco has performed nationally and internationally at venues such as: The New Parish, The San Francisco Opera House, The Beehive, Yerba Buena Center For The Arts, Teatro Nacional de Guatemala, New Zealand's Hope Brother's, and more. She released her first solo mixtape in February 2011 called "Can I Reminisce...Progress Not Perfection". Coco Peila released the music video for her first single " Misses Shoot 'em Down" September 2013 preceding the release of her freshmen album. The video places an emotionally and sonically inspiring soundtrack in Oakland’s graffiti-beautified landscape. Misses Shoot ‘em Down is a song for women and anyone who loves hard hitting Hip Hop pumping out of the speakers in the club or the car. It offers a unique chance for women to avoid choosing between good dance music and a soundtrack that respects them.
