Dylan Rouda taught himself the drums at age six. By eight, he’d moved on to the bass and guitar. At age 10, he wrote his first song titled “Teenage Screw-up”. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, his voice wasn’t discovered until his first-ever musical theater audition for a citywide performance of Peter Pan drew the attention of the director who declared he had perfect pitch and cast him as Peter. Since then, Rouda has performed on stage and on television in numerous roles, but at heart, he’s a singer/songwriter. In 7th grade, his family moved to Malibu, California, and Rouda jumped into Malibu High School in the middle of middle school. Soon after, he recorded and released the song, “The Most Special Way.” It’s tough following your dream, especially in middle school, but he didn’t quit, forming his own band, The Whiskey Tangos, and performing at various venues around Malibu, including the Battle of the Bands. After moving to Orange County two years ago, Rouda is now 17 and a junior at Laguna Beach High School. Rouda is ready to step into the spotlight again, releasing a self-titled EP with five original songs. Rouda recorded the EP with Grammy Nominated Producer Steve “The Chef “ Russell, at his San Diego studio. Rouda wrote and composed all of the songs, sings the lead and plays guitar on all of the tracks. Experienced studio musicians accompanied him on the drums and bass. Inspired by groups such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Sublime and Pearl Jam, Rouda had the opportunity to master guitar in Malibu with the help of Zach Irons, a current member of up and coming band Iron Tom and the son of Jack Irons, original drummer for the Chili Peppers and currently touring with The Wall Flowers. Rouda studies voice with Ron Anderson in LA. The songs on the EP range from alternative rock - Can't Tell A Lie, Falling Over, When He Leaves You Here - and surf rock - Waiting to Forget - to the mellow acoustics of In My Head.
