Theres something unique and electrifying brewing in the heart of Toronto's music scene. The sounds of blazing guitars, a thunderous rhythm section and contagious melodies are three elements that make up the refreshing sounds of Virtue & Vice. V&V's explosive live performances showcase a diverse repertoire and highlight their natural ability to entertain an audience. If you take two cups of classic rock, one tablespoon of blues, a dash of soul and a sprinkle of funk, and place it in the oven at five hundred degrees, you will get a taste of what Virtue & Vice has on their menu. In May of 2006, Virtue & Vice began establishing themselves as a high energy rock act in the Toronto music scene. After only the bands second show, they were given the opportunity to host a monthly showcase at Clinton’s Tavern. The band has since gone on to play several well known local venues including Club 279, The Opera House, The Horseshoe Tavern and Revival. It took nearly two and half years for founding members Jamie Richards (lead guitar) and Jon Jacobson (Lead Vocals) to find the right musicians to complete this powerhouse rock band. First up was Alessandro Zito. This 20 year-old protégé will give you a glimpse of what Neil Peart might have sounded like if he had grown up in the 21st century. His technical abilities are well beyond his years, creating intricate rhythms that get people grooving…HARD! Rhythm guitar player Zack Carey is another crucial component to the dynamics of the music. His arrival enabled the band to capture that classic rock sound V&V was looking to produce. Last and certainly not least is the bands bass player, Miles Peart. One look at Miles and you know he’s one hard core musician. There is more talent in one strand of his dread locks than most bass players have in their fingers. Overall, the combination of these five musicians creates an energetic vibe that is destined to turn heads. The band has recently completed their first recording, a five song EP released in early 2007. It includes three studio tracks and two live performance recordings, showcasing the bands raw ability to lay it down both in the studio and on the stage. The EP was engineered by Mike Fletcher, one of Toronto’s well known front of house soundmen, and mastered by Lacquer Channels, Phil Demetro (The Trews, Sloan). V&V are seeking to develop a team of industry professionals including but not limited to; artist managers, booking agents and record labels to help bring their music to the masses. Thier goal is to continue to produce music filled with rockin' riffs and soulful melodies to keep audiences screaming for more.
