The typical love note gained prominence amongst youth 13-18 in middle school & high school, before texting became the norm. An archaic form of communication between males and females that has not been seen for decades. The note was usually scribbled hastily on a small piece of scrap paper. A few heartfelt words were accompanied by pictures of hearts, etc. and the promise of enduring love for the recipient. The note was then folded as many times possible (usually more neatly by girls) and stuffed into the pocket of the recipient between classes. Usually followed up by the "I'm sorry" note and sometimes the "Please don't kill me" note. In this musical context, the solo alto sax plays a few simple tunes as complex and mature as a typical high school love note written by the typical math & science failing, class cutting male student who has one thing on his mind: A girl that has vaporized his brain of everything but her. With titles taken from the inscriptions on Valentine's heart candy, this is very deep stuff. Although "Missing You", "You're So Sweet", "I'm Sorry", and "Be Mine Forever" seem to be shallow and cliched, these phrases have kept the world turning for millions and billions of years.
