Los Lopez is the Spanish pair behind True Story, a great new EP on Tokyo based Blindetonation that comes with hot remixes from LosBikini, Johnson, Thomass Jackson and Bird of Paradise. 
The Los Lopez duo, made up of Marcos In Dub and Alvaro Cabana, have released on the Days of Being Wild label, have had support for their music from the likes of Ivan Smagghe, Ewan Pearson and X-Press 2 and have remixed disco gods like Mugwump before now. With two sizzling new originals here, they impress once more. Arresting opener A True Story is a popping cut with dazzling synths, colourful melodic explosions and tense drums that really get you on your toes. Freewheeling chords are frazzled and textured, whilst a filtered female vocal (that muses on, amongst other things, HIV) adds more fire up top and rounds out a fierce cut indeed. First to add their spin is LosBikini, a newish pair of producers from Madrid who have put out music on Logical Rec and Play Pal and who have played gigs across Europe. Here they layer in some real post punk attitude, swirling cosmic synths and a true sense of immovable drum funk. Last but not least Johnson, a close friend of acclaimed disco label La dame Noir, trips us out with a widescreen remix full of jangling chords, bold synth drones and turbulent, intergalactic vibes. The other great original is Come Over, which has organic guitar licks and gliding drums setting a nice mid tempo groove. Oversized, reverb rich chords warble up top and freaky, dehumanised volts add a sense of dark disco dystopia to proceedings. Its a monstrous track that gets remixed firstly by Argentinian Thomass Jackson, who has also worked on La Dame Noir before now. His version is a real cosmic chugger with big drums and wild acid lines, then Bird of Paradise (an alias of young UK producer Jo Howard who has ties with Jennifer Cardinis Correspondant and New Yorks Throne of Blood) layers in lots of flabby bass, psychedelic lead lines and dirty textures to make for brilliantly machine made music that cannot fail to leave its mark. This is a varied and vital package from the always on point Blindetonation.
