Sic’Nis: an acronym standing for Succeed-In(g) Impossible Circumstances Needs Intellectual Strength Lyricist, writer, radio presenter and performing artiste who has a unique skill of combining clean, positive melodic flows with clever metaphorical lyrics. Growing up in the Handsworth area of Birmingham, UK Sic’Nis realised quite early on, that her desire was to empower people, and her talent, her tool to accomplish this goal, lay in her way with words. This gift began with poems & short stories, and, as her love for music grew, it became apparent that there was, quite simply, no other path for her to take, all roads lead to MUSIC. Inspired by her ancestors, such as Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King, Harriet Tubman & The Taino’s, to name but a few, whose greatness fortified her belief that nothing is impossible, Sic’Nis set about making her dreams reality. Performing regularly with her 5 piece band, to date Sic’Nis has opened up for multi-platinum selling artist ‘Ghostface Killah’ (of Wu Tang Clan); Immortal Technique (at his first ever sold-out show in Birmingham); Akala; commissioned & co-directed a 60min piece ‘Word! Sound! Power!’ for Black History Month for the Morton Stanley Festival; Performed at flagship festivals & events such as; Simmer Down International Reggae Festival; Jamaica 50 (the 5 day outdoor festival celebrating Jamaica’s 50 years of Independence; The Flyover Show (Soweto Kinch’s flagship event); Birmingham Day at the Houses Of Parliament; and is developing her mentoring and Youth Work skills through her role as SomewhereTo Champion. Currently finalising the EP entitled ‘Love Me with My Clothes ON!’, (a nod to today’s over-sexualised society), Sic’Nis looks set to achieve her quest to empower, full stop.
