The first single is “Hyung” ft. Dok2 and Simon Dominic. "Hyung” was the first traditional Korean word of respect I ever learned. I wanted to break down the barrier and create a clear understanding what it means to be a “hyung”. Over the years I have learned that being older than somebody in age shouldn’t automatically earn you respect. You have to SHOW respect to EARN respect. Dok2 and Simon D have earned that respect in the hip-hop community out here and although all of us are young we have earned respect in our separate communities. 첫 번째 싱글은 ‘Dok2’와 ‘Simon Dominic’가 피쳐링으로 참여한 “형”이라는 곡입니다. ‘형’이라는 단어는 제가 처음으로 배운 존칭이에요. ‘형’이 된다는 것이 의미하는 것에 대해 벽을 허물고, 좀 더 분명히 이해하고 싶었어요. 그 동안 나이만 많다고 해서 리스펙을 얻을 수 있는 게 아니란 걸 알게 됐습니다. 리스펙을 보여줘야지만 리스펙을 얻을 수 있다고 생각해요. Dok2와 Simon Dominic은 한국 힙합씬에서 인정을 받아 리스펙을 얻고 있고, 아직은 어리지만 저희 모두 다양한 커뮤니티에서 리스펙을 받고 있어요. WHY I’M IN KOREA: 한국에 온 이유 I have made yearly trips to Korea for almost ten years now. my first trip to Korea i did shows with Tiger JK, Dynamic Duo, Epik High and more. I’ve have collaborated with a few artists out in Korea but in the last 5 years the music industry specifically in the genre of hip-hop has changed drastically. I’ve always wanted to do a lot more out here but was busy with pursuing music in the American market. Times have changed now and language has become less important as music has become international, the timing felt right for me to finally put a project out here. This mini-album will be the first of 3 mini-albums released this year. 거의 10년동안 한국을 꾸준히 방문해왔어요. 첫 번째 한국 여행 때 타이거 JK, 다이나믹 듀오, 에픽하이 등 여러 아티스트들과 함께 공연을 했어요. 한국의 아티스트들과 여러 차례 작업을 해왔는데, 최근 5년 동안 음악 시장이 급변했어요. 힙합 장르의 경우 변화가 더 심했죠. 저는 언제나 한국에서 좀 더 많은 활동과 작업을 하고 싶었지만 미국 시장에서 음악을 인정 받느라 바빴어요. 그런데 이제 시대가 변했고, 음악이 세계화 되면서 언어가 끼치는 중요성이 예전보단 덜 하다는 생각이 들었습니다. 이제 여기에서 프로젝트를 시작해볼 때가 됐다고 생각했어요. 이번 미니앨범은 올해 발표할 3개의 미니 앨범 중 첫 번째 결과물입니다.
