“Multiplying with Lil’ D” is educational tool designed to provide a fun and effective way to teach students multiplication facts. The product was created by producers and songwriters of Move Studio Chicago when they took notice to the declining test scores throughout the Chicagoland area. It is alarming that the test scores of children in both urban and rural educational systems have such high deficiency in Mathematics. Unfortunately, this deficiency is a direct result of their lack of knowledge regarding multiplication facts. We noticed that students who have not learned their multiplication tables believe they have reached an educational plateau that cannot be surpassed. After visits to schools in other districts and observing the inadequate test scores in Mathematics, it was realized that this is not a problem specific to certain districts. It is an educational problem that stretches a wide range of socio-economic and racial boundaries. This product was created with this concept in mind. The tool combines professionally produced hip-hop music and lyrics to appeal to the target audience of grade school students aged 5 –14.
