简介

From Bjort Productions, who brought you the feature film "Naughty or Nice," comes "The Joneses," a dark comedy about rival neighbors whose quest for the best turns deadly. For two couples - Ally and Mitch, and Paul and Suzanne - life seems to have turned out pretty well. They are neighbors with a deep friendship who engage in a bit of friendly competition. But anything goes in suburbia, and a healthy game of oneupmanship is soon overtaken by deliberate sabotage. Careers are targeted, marriages attacked. Even the furniture isn't safe. In the aftermath of neighborly rivalry, the players are left to pick up the pieces. Is there still a game to be won? Or can redemption be found? One thing is for certain: In a world where loving thy neighbor feels good, but being the best feels better, there are secrets to be uncovered... and indeed, keeping up with the Joneses can be hazardous to your health. I first met Chris and Stacey at a networking event at Berklee College of Music which I had worked with many colleagues and college leaders to pull together. I heard about this project called “The Joneses” from some random guy (Jim) that had walked up to me to listen to my music. I remember meeting Chris, “The Director,” and getting nervous when he was listening to my music, deciding if he liked it or not. They took a CD and the rest is history. Working on this film has been one of the most exciting projects I've ever accomplished. Writing 40 Minutes of music and being able to interact with such an intelligent team at Bjort Productions was an amazing experience. I want to thank my friends and family for helping me work through this project. I'd also like to thank the musicians, Ruby, Rhett, Rika, and Aaron for being the most loyal musicians. Thanks to Kaiti for helping me prepare for the session and keeping me organized during the session. Thanks to Mark for being my ears in the booth. Thanks to Bridget for supporting me along with my parents who helped me organize all the sheet music the night before the recording session. Thanks to Matt for being my amazing engineer. And a special thanks to Chris and Stacey for writing such an amazing script and shooting such a beautiful film to insipre me to write the music here in this album. David Gonzalez -------- Jim Shalkoski dragged us to a Berklee event back in 2008, and picked Dave Gonzalez out of a crowd to begin schmoozing. Little did we know then that we had just met a kindred spirit who would help shape "The Joneses" in monumentally creative ways, and add a crucial layer to the voice of the film. A year and a half later we reconnected at a Panera, furiously jotting down notes and ideas on Dave's evil Mac computer, and we found in Dave the final missing piece to our core creative team that would make "The Joneses" fully come to life. Dave instantly "got" the movie we wanted to make, and it wouldn't have happened without him. Over a short period of time, Dave created miracles: music that could satisfy every emotion we wanted to convey. He worked ridiculously long hours and often with terribly vague suggestions, writing a score that not only enhanced every scene, but also unified it as a whole and dramatically reinforced our tone. Dave also gave us a second wind by breathing life and joy back into the process at a time when we needed it most. He gave us the ultimate thrill of being a part of the recording session; observing the group of talented musicians he assembled perform under his direction was truly inspiring. Anyone who sees "The Joneses" can easily understand why we consider Dave and his music to be as crucial to "The Joneses" as every line of dialogue, every shot we filmed. We consider ourselves amazingly lucky to have been a part of Dave's first feature-length film score, in what will certainly be a long, tremendous career. We are exceptionally proud of his score for "The Joneses," and hope you love it as much as we do. Stacey Cruwys, Mark DiSanzo, & Chris Tyrrell Producers, "The Joneses"
