Ben Tamana was born Benjamin Tamana, and was raised in Rivers State Nigeria in West Africa. He’s from an Ogoni tribe in the southern part of Nigeria. His Region is well known as the region that’s filled with natural oil, but his region was not benefited from this natural resources, rather they were forced to leave their land by the Government of Nigerian, this is were Ben Tamana has to flee his Region, and relocate when the Government killing people from Ogoni. Many people were arrested many where killed. He was taken to the city by my Dads older sister; there he was why his mother was out of the country because of the war. Ben Tamana, was one of two boys that living with his Dad older sister, including five other girls. They go to church almost every day for choir practice, Bible studies, and every morning, they have to sing and pray before leaving the house or starting there days. They were very poor, so every morning he will have to go out and sell food and drinks on the street, and this was his everyday routine. Joining his Aunties to choir practice and Bible got him into Singing. Ben Tamana is now an aspiring Canadian singer, dancer, rapper, songwriter and actor who Sings, writes and performs RnB, hip hop, reggae, Pop, Jazz, Soul, Dance hall, Techno, Blues, Gospel and so on…. Ben Tamana started singing at the age of 4 in his church with his Aunties, and then by the age of 10, he joined the senior choir of his church. He was moved to Benin Republic to join his mom at the Refugees camp, but then he was moving back and front, from Refugee camp in Benin Republic to Nigeria, because the life at the Refugee camp was way harder than the life in Nigeria. Leaving in poverty was hard in Nigeria, but people were suffering way more at the Refugees camp. Ben Tamana later move to Benin Republic, where everything he sees, made him stronger and inspired him to start writing his own Songs at the age of 12, He starting singing, performing at concerts, opened up for some local artists in Benin Republic. At the age of 15, he moved to Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada. In his first year in Canada, he was enrolled at Gordon Bell High School. Two months after his enrollment, he performed at the Gordon Bell Coffee house, after his performance, he was asked to join the senior choir at his school, which he did. After one week in the senior choir, he was told to join the vocal jazz choir. Ben Tamana got invited to perform to Several High School Talent shows. There he performs one of his songs he wrote as a kid, Title "I Love to Love you", which was extremely well received by the audience. Ben Tamana later on joined a Hip Hop academy, which was an after school problem, where you do your home work then have a song writing sections with professionals. Hip Hop Academy was what gives Ben Tamana hope on music and never to give up on your dreams. The first show he did with Hip Hop Academy was at the University of Winnipeg (U of W). Shortly after that, he had a series of shows in a row. He was performing two to three shows every week at the age of 16. He started recording and refining his craft with a Hip Hop producer/artist named Addison Sandy at the Hip Hop Academy, and Justtv. Ben Tamana continues recording and performing across Canada and touching people with his art. He shot his first music video (Fly Away) in September of 2010. Which was a free music video, Shot by Addison Sandy. His Second Music Video was in Dec of 2012, which was a touch of his African AfroBeat style of music. Its was a Nigeria Song Tittle "No Be Yori Yori", Another Video in September 2013 Title "Dance for me" ft Leone Star. This video has giving Ben Tamana more exposure than ever before. In Winnipeg Manitoba, he’s well known for his voice and dance move. Performing at the Festival of the Arts, Hot summer Foam Party, Justtv Summer show Cases and perform at many Universities dance and dinner shows, United Way Fundraising, Music Central Fundraising, Child and Family Services Fundraising, B&L Resource for Youth and Family, Nigerian Canadian congress of Manitoba (NICCOM), Performing at Night clubs, Community events, Banquets, Independents days dance and Dinner. Ben Tamana has done more than a thousand shows so far, and that has made him a local hot commodity. He’s is currently working oh his First Album and he is asking for more help and support to complete this project. Ben Tamana has got to work with a lot of great musician, and producers, such as “platinum Blacks”, “Leone Star, “Ridley Bent” and many more. Ben Tamana is planning on touring Across Canada, Asia and Africa after this Album is finish. One of the reasons why he wants to make it big in this industry is to give back to the less privilege. He knows what it’s takes to leave for weeks without food, running from war and sleeping in the forest for weeks. Making it big and visiting lost of refugee camps, and poor villages will really make him happy. Music bring joy to him, but what makes music really special to him, is how people react to him performances and his music. Ben Tamana, has the drive and the ability to make it big like every top 10 billboard artist.
