In the short period of two years the HILLBILLY MOON EXPLOSION have already played countless different venues with great success and have built up a considerable reputation as a live act. Not that any band members are newcomers as such: Bandleader, singer and slap bass player Oliver A. Baroni was formerly singer-songwriter of the psychobilly crossover THE HILLBILLY HEADHUNTERS. Main vocal and rhythm guitar are coutesy of Emanuela M Hutter, the carismatic leader of M.D.MOON. Lead guitar is handled masterfully by Patrick Geser, while the legendary groove king Aad Hollander is responsible for the drumming. THE HILLBILLY MOON EXPLOSION play raw 1950s black rhythm'n'blues with garage trash attitude. There's the rockabilly element - slap bass and tape-echoed lead guitar - and Emanuela's vocals evoking 60s girl-group flavours. THE HILLBILLY MOON EXPLOSION view themselves primarily as a rock'n'roll band - no cliches, no bullshit, just energy and groove. You might call it garage r'n'b.
