简介

My second CD, "Taking Refuge," has been a work-in-progress since I've moved to Illinois. Previously, in 2006, I released a self-titled CD “Connie B.” Many of these songs on this album are written for friends and teachers who have enriched my life. 50 Miles from Baghdad was inspired by stories, emails, and letters I received from a Chief Master Sergeant stationed in Iraq in 2003. Morning is played on the Native American flute and followed by Prairie Moon, a song I wrote shortly after moving to Illinois. Bodhichitta and Circle of Friends are favorites that were included on my first CD. In the Dreamland was written for Iris, a teacher who taught me the importance of openness, possibility, and boundlessness. The term Taking Refuge is often used in reference to Buddhism; however, I prefer not to limit the meaning to one idea or philosophy. It is a free spirit that sings this chant of compassion, OM MANI PEME HUNG. Say it many times to send light and love to all beings. Finally, The Bird was inspired by a bird that rested on my windowsill many long, lonely nights and still befriends my spirit in meditation. Mostly, I am thankful for the creative spirit that brings this music. Namaste’ Connie B © 2009 Connie Buchenroth, Kindred Spirits Music
