简介
Many of the tracks on this album, including track "Lava Lamp" , "Down on the Corner" and "Tweaker" were recorded live in the studio with absolutely no overdubs. "Snowblind" and "Tiny Spies" were recorded at our friend Dr Bob's recording studio in Brisbane, Australia. He sprinkled some very special magical glitter over those two. Thanks Bob. "Maureen" was tracked at Tall Trees studios in Brisbane Northside and mixed later on at another venue. "Mainline" was recorded on a stereo field recorder at Rick's house with Matt and Mike playing acoustic guitar and bass and Rick playing electric drums. It took about two years to put the album together and it's been a lot of fun and and some frustration. Of course, we would have like to have got better sounds on a couple of tracks but the songs stand up well and they're a varied lot. From the Velvetesque "Down On The Corner" to the Hoodoo Gurish "Lava Lamp". "Maureen" is a song for a now sadly departed old girlfriend. "The Bracelete Espanol" was made up on the spot during the recording session and was never played before and never since. "Tiny Spies" is a song about mobile phones and the surreptitious monitoring and analysing of the global populous by pretty much any data massing organization that wants to go the the bother of doing it. We here at SPUDGUN hope you enjoy our album. We do have a website so you can always send us an email. We like to get your feedback, or any feedback at all!!. All comments are welcome and meticulously analyzed prior to us replying!! SPUDGUN is Rick Baker - Drums, played with normal sticks and also flayed with chains and/or whips and Backing Vocals, Matt Sulman - Lead Vocals, cries for "mercy" and screams and Guitar including fuzz gtr, stun gtr, acoustic gtr and the six string sleaze grinder. Mike Buck - Bass and Backing Vocals, grunting, humming and making sounds akin to a damaged microwave oven turntable. We live in the steamy subtropical paradise and urban sprawl that is Brisbane Australia, the very place from whence The Saints, Powderfinger and The Go Betweens sprouted.. We started off recording an EP but there were so many rip-snortin' tracks that we couldn't stop. Five, ten, finally fifteen tracks for this our first and eponymously titled album. This is the one. We turned the sonic reducer up to "11" during the recording of our magnum opus. Doing that meant that we had to feed it a lot of 20 cent pieces. So, see, now we have to charge you for it. But it's worth it because it's a damn fine disc. ,
