ECHO was an Oread in Greek mythology. She was cursed, only being able to repeat the last few words spoken to her. Echo fell in love with the hunter, Narcissus. Not having the ability to share her feelings, Echo was forced to watch Narcissus fall in love with himself, leaving her voiceless. This story resonates with me and I wanted to make this album because I allowed myself to feel voiceless and unwilling to share my feelings for too long and robbing myself of one of the most beautiful gifts we are given: just feeling human with other humans. Throughout the process of making this album it has given me opportunity to do just that. IT TAKES A WHOLE VILLAGE TO MAKE THIS THING WORK. The title track was inspired by the author Olivia Laing’s “Trip to Echo Spring”. Thank you for your beautiful piece of literature. Truly it was the catalyst for putting the pen to paper. Josh and Russell, thank you for hearing me. Musicians in general are some of my favorite people in the world. Thank you to each musician that has played a part in this project, your knowledge and time is so very appreciated.
