简介

American roots-rocker Jackslacks is back with his sixth release, “Farm Jazz" featuring title track "Generations Hypnotized” out on the Shield of Love label. Collaborating this time around with San Diego State University jazz prodigies, Eric Hutchinson, Dave Votel and Alejandro Aste-Nieto, the new track (b/w “Don’t Mind Me”) was produced by Mike Kamoo and Jackslacks at Earthling Studios in El Cajon, CA. “Generations Hypnotized” is a cheeky harangue to a culture held in thrall of their smartphones. Jackslacks’ rockabilly bedrock remains, with some added color: organ from Aste-Nieto, a scorching guitar break from Hutchinson, Beach Boy-ish backing vocals from Votel, and even a flute emerging on the closing bridge by guest artist Ian Johnson. B-side, “Don’t Mind Me”, is a swinging country number in the same vein as his last single, “Lucky Man” which (along with its b-side, “Best Friend Gone Away”) received substantial airplay not only in the US, but in Ireland, Scotland and Australia. Singer/songwriter/drummer Jackslacks was a founding member of The Forbidden Pigs and Hot Rod Lincoln, two of San Diego’s most important rockabilly bands of the ‘90s. After relocating to Detroit to lend his talents to Nobody’s Business, Jackslacks embarked on his solo career in 2002 with the release of smooth sliding rockabilly album "Rock & Roll Dinosaur". He has recorded and performed with Lee Rocker (Stray Cats) and Tommy Byrnes (Billy Joel) and shared the stage with key players of the genre, from hero Carl Perkins and veterans Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry, to second generation acts like The Stray Cats, The Blasters, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, NRBQ, Junior Brown, The Beat Farmers, The Paladins and Mojo Nixon.
