He was classically trained until age 13 when he began studying jazz with Peter Murray at McPhail School Of The Arts. In 1986 Scottie attended Berklee College of Music with the help of a scholarship from the Chick Corea Jazz Masters Incentive Fund, studying under piano great Craig Najjar. Scottie then moved back to Minneapolis where he still resides. Writing and recording and touring with various bands until a solo career was launched. In 1998 Scottie crossed paths with Minneapolis Blues favorites Big John Dickerson and Blue Chamber. They went on the tour extensively in the U.S. and overseas. Scottie wrote and co-wrote tunes; “How Long?”, “When The Sun Goes Down” and “When I’m Gone” featured on the CD; “Arms Of The Blues” – Blue Chamber featuring Big John Dickerson.
