PURE GENIUS Bio: Above all things, the name alone makes a bold statement. PURE GENIUS is comprised of three Louisiana-born brothers: Big Joe, Mad V, and nakEdtruth (formerly Lil Trey). Born Jonathan, Matthew, and Trevor Vicks, respectively, they possess a creative outlook like no other. In the past, followers have tagged the group as different, creative, inspiring, original, and even strange. The trio likes to call it “three styles wrapped in one.” Their self-proclaimed ingeniousness created the name Pure Genius. They believe that music has no limits or rules; therefore, striving for perfection is endless. The three young men of nine siblings come from a musical and artistic background. Big Joe, Mad V, and nakEdtruth refuse to let their gifts lie dormant. From the small town of Thibodaux located at the bottom of the “Boot,” the group desires to reach far beyond their region with genuine love for the art. The story of Pure Genius isn’t archetypal; the road they travel was not paved. Just getting the vehicle started was difficult, but the industry could not hide the key for long. When their eldest brother, Nolan, teamed to create VC Entertainment in 2005, the restraints were lifted. With full creative control, Pure Genius voice music in numerous personalities. They deliver thought-provoking stories, feel-good melodies, and lyrical assaults, all of which contains underlying and/or recognizable meanings. With maturity came more aggressive subject matters. Pure Genius expects controversy and debates over their music; that’s “Hip-Hop.” To hear more on their story, the music is the best choice of exploration.
