简介
All instruments and vocals by Chris Breetveld, with some special guests on a couple tracks (see booklet). The first released Breetles album, this is compact disc people love to love. Recorded in two weeks, November 1994. A loud, in-your-face pop fest recorded with just two microphones, real drums & real instruments in a 160-year-old parlor room with pine wood floor. This album, of mostly first takes, achieves a "let’s try anything!" feel of a garage band in heat. 17 songs of pure pop for I HATE TOP 40 people. Critically praised beyond belief. Pop Go! The Breetles made two considered pop critic's best-albums of 1995 lists, and "The Restless Years (Cassandra)" as #3 song of that year*. *David Bash, GOLDMINE, AUDITIES POP'N'PSYCH (Yugoslavia , Nov. 1998) ..."POP GO! THE BREETLES" impressions...all in all it's a fabulous album, a true pop masterpiece. Here are my favourite tracks: "Uncle Plywood" (pure Roy Wood, it even rhymes with the title), "Camp Surprise" (this is a nice example of those so called "harmony pop" sixties groups (weren't they all then) like Millennium, Sagitarius, Association (all Curt Boetcher...), then "Breaking Up Precious Love" (with a perfect mix of Mersey-verses/chorus and Wilsonian bridge), "The Restless Years (Cassandra)" (this is pure Brian Wilson circa '66-'67), "Green Shoes" (this reminds me of everything nice in pop and it's original at the same time, isn't it where it's at when it comes to great pop music?), and there's "Mr. Market" which is a nice Ray Davies ('67-'69) workout.- Goran Obradovic ___ format: 8-track cassette porta-studio mixed to consumer dat mastered for CD with Sonic Solutions by Bill Kollar, London By Night Productions, Woodbridge, NJ venue: at home in Canal Rd., Griggstown, NJ produced & engineered by: Chris Breetveld exectutive producer: Greg Shuss
