简介
“Escorregando” (Sliding) is the second CD by Choro das 3. The group is formed by a family, three sisters (Corina – flute; Lia – 7-string guitar; Elisa – mandolin, banjo and clarinet; and their father, Eduardo – tambourine). Playing professionally for the last 10 years, Choro das 3 has already performed before top government representatives, including President Lula, and enjoys great success among audiences and music critics throughout the country. Choro (“cry” or “weep”, in English) is the first urban musical genre developed in Brazil. It evolved from the fusion of the European classical music and the drum beat of African slaves. “Choro” is an extremely rich, complex and melodious type of music, which allows the musicians freedom to interpret and improvise according to their desire and virtuosity. In spite of its name, Choro is known for its upbeat, satiric and happy songs which perfectly reflect the Brazilian wittiness in their day-to-day life. With new and updated arrangements of traditional choros, and some newly written ones, “Escorregando” exposes the happy, funny and laid back side of Brazilians, who sing their grief through melodious songs but always find reasons to smile and be happy.
