"ZapOte", a native Cuban fruit, is an original Afro-Latin Funk unit lead by Dawn Drake, a bassist/conguera/singer/songwriter who wears several hats while setting the scene with her own brand of cool where Funk, Afro-beat, Samba, Afro-Cuban and Caribbean rhythms accompany poetic and conscious lyrics delivered with heartfelt vocals, funky bass, swinging horn lines and improvisation.
