I was looking for a cool original song to record and when I heard singer/songwriter Stephan Cox's tune "Easy Again" I was immediately intrigued. Stephan let me record the tune as well as make some lyric changes to reflect a female perspective. The song is about a toxic relationship, the dynamic between two people who clearly are not good for each other and that is perhaps why they can't stay away. They are each others quick fix, being apart makes them more attracted to each other, and despite knowing the relationship is a dead end, they both are aware the other will always be there for a clandestine meeting. I feel this dilemma is highlighted in the bridge "Oh my love, my enemy/Why won't you stay away from me/I'd do the same for you if I could". The music itself supports the idea of the song, opening with an stark and ominous sounding guitar progression that explodes with a nasty riff when the chorus come in. The orchestration has a masculine garage band bravado that creates a nice juxtaposition with the female vocal. Thanks for listening!
