简介
Sometimes pegged as shoegaze, “nu-gaze", and even "post-gaze”, the four-piece alt-indie outfit Tracing Figures fancy themselves the more melodic, ethereal version of 90’s alternative. Heavily influenced by the pop-tinged sounds of contemporary indie rock artists, the band is evocative of Blonde Redhead, M83, The Cure, and Autolux, with delicate vocals often layered upon soaring melodic guitars and a meticulous clockwork of real-time effects, soft-synths, and sampled vintage drum machines. Founded in 2008 by guitarist Thad Baker (Anaura, Cinematic, The Strand), the band quickly found it’s way to its current line up of musically diverse characters: Bassist Dean Faustman (Anaura, Thistle), vocalist/guitarist Laura Glascott (indie folk-rock scenes of Boston & LA), and drummer Eric Bateman (Cynyc, also currently playing with Italo Disco outfit Easy Street). Together they have crafted a cohesive repertoire of gorgeous and invigorating songs that have captured the attention and excitement of music lovers across the Bay Area. The release of their self-titled debut EP mixed by Aaron Tressell (Depeche Mode’s Exciter) and mastered by Mike Wells (John Vanderslice, STS9) has been long anticipated—the band is thrilled to bring it to the masses, celebrating their labor of love with numerous performances in the Bay Area. Tracing Figures has shared the stage with local San Francisco acts such as Tomihira, Foxtail Somersault, The Love X Nowhere, Astral, and Trophy Fire. Favorite SF venues have included Café du Nord, Rickshaw Stop, Red Devil Lounge, and The Makeout Room.
