I love Celtic music. One of my life goals, in fact, is the preservation and promotion of traditional Celtic songs. One way I do that is by recording songs and then sharing the lyrics and chords I play so that others can learn how I learn, by ear. That’s why I started recording this album. However, this new CD–”Not Every Day Is St. Patrick’s Day”–is more than just that. It’s a bold statement of what Celtic music is to me and to countless other Celtophiles around the world. Music is everywhere. Flip on your radio. You hear it. Roll down your car window. You hear it. Walk into a grocery story. You hear it. But the music you hear outside of your own four walls is not the music you love. It’s the major labels TELLING YOU, “You will like this!” I don’t know about you, but I hate being told what I to do. More importantly, I hate what’s being fed to me by the record labels. Most of the music I I listen to is Celtic. I listen to it because it is a part of my Scots-Irish heritage. I listen to it because it’s fun. I listen to it because it touches something deep inside of me and brings joy into my life. Does it do that to you too? That is the goal of my next CD. I want you to *feel* your Celtic heritage. I want to bring a little bit Celtic Freedom into your life. The new album is due out January 17, 2012.
