简介
Mandy Cook Has Earned Her Place As A Prominent Artist In The Nashville Music Community. Hailing From A Small Farm Town In Ohio, She Moved To Nashville In 2008 At The Age Of 18 To Explore A Future In Music. In No Time She Started Sharing Songs With A Group Of Seasoned Songwriters. She Then Began Receiving Work Bringing Their Songs To Life As A Demo Vocalist, Because Of Her Unique And Polished Vocal Sound. Mandy Forged Her Musical Niche By Pulling Classical Vocal Training, Self-Taught Guitar, And The Influential Jazz And R&B Of Her Childhood Together. She Was Raised Listening To Greats Like Al Jarreau, Sarah Vaughn, And Sade. On Her Own, She Discovered The Music Of Django Reindhart, Tom Waits, Nina Simone, And Joni Mitchell. She Began Teaching Herself Guitar At The Age Of 12 When She Picked Up Her Cousin’s (Now L.A.-Based Singer/Songwriter Kristy Hanson). Discovering The Instrument For Herself Produced A Nuanced, Bass-Driven Playing Style That Now Ranges From Beautifully Minimalistic To Jazzy And Complex. In 2012 She Started Collaborating With Her Friend And Fellow Up-And-Coming Artist Matt Lovell. They Recorded A Limited-Release 3-Song EP, “Flip A Coin”, Sold In Hand-Sewn, Hand-Painted Canvas Covers. They Spent A Year Traveling In And Out Of The Florida Panhandle, Writing Extensively With 30A’s Tim Jackson. In The Early-Spring Of 2013 She Recorded Her First Solo Release- A 12-Song, Acoustic Album, Captured By A Single Microphone. It Is A Brave And Unapologetic Sampling Of Her Artistry, And A True Representation Of Her Live Sound. It Meanders Through A Stylistic Spectrum -Gypsy Jazz, Retro-Style Pop, To More Alternative And Moody Ballads. Mandy Currently Maintains Two Local Residencies- Mondays And Wednesdays At Nashville’s Hotel Indigo, And Thursdays At Ellendale’s Restaurant. These Intimate Venues Are A Great Place To Connect With Mandy And Pick Up A Cd. New Tunes Are In The Works For A Second Album, And Keep An Eye Out For Special Cover-Song Releases This Year.
