I started writing my own songs in 7th grade and fell in love with the creative process. Singing comes natural and being able to sing my own songs is the perfect synergy for me. Born Brittney Steward, July 18, 1987 in Detroit, MI. a Singer, actress and songwriter. Brittney began singing at age 6 starting in a local church on Detroit’s west side, competing in middle school talent shows, & performing the National Anthem throughout high school at each final competition. She once attended the Detroit Institute of Performing Arts in Detroit, MI. before she finally stepped her foot on music production. Inspired and influenced by legendary artists such as Whitney Houston, Beyonce’ Knowles, and Anita Baker; Brittney is on her road to success. Growing up in a single parent household Brittney has always been independent and determined for a better way of life and living. Joining and quickly leaving a hip hop group called “TeamWestside”, Brittney had become a worthy asset before leaving the group she met and became close friends with Detroit Hip Hop pioneer Phil (Big He) Fernandez who became her mentor, producer and current manager. She became a solo artist who writes and produces most of her songs, with the exception of her debut single “What is This” written by Shawn (Lyric) Matthews and produced by another pioneer of the Detroit music scene Helluva. Brittney has since performed at various fundraising events, including City Councilwoman Brenda Jones’, and is being said to perform the “Black Anthem” for Minister Lewis Farrakhan, and her own charity events known as the Who is Brittney Steward Campaign. What Brittney wishes to accomplish with her artworks is to become a icon and inspiration to young women around the world.
