James's first artistic project, "Orange Sky," pans a variety of musical styles. Although it's fundamentally rooted in acoustic rock and country blues, it's difficult to ignore the presence of modern house sounds. His debut track "Call of the Wild" indicates a fascination with the textures of melodic house, yet the leading riff lines ensure that a smooth soulful blues sound survives the hard pumping kick drum and bass. Other tracks like "Saving Grace" are nothing short of a foot-stomping acoustic rock blues jam that will have you bobbing your head in no time. However, he also exhibits an impressive grasp of a lyrically driven indie/folk sound on "South of the River." Taken as a whole, "Orange Sky" showcases James' versatility as an artist as well as his distinct style that permeates each track.
