简介

Review from cleveland free press... "Wixor is a Northern Ohio band that features a solid hard rock/heavy metal style in their sound. The five members of the band consist of: Bill Roberts on guitar and synth, Alex Capas on guitar, Matt Snyder on bass and DJ Remark on drums, vocals and keys. This talented group of musicians just recently put out their new album entitled Red Noise. Red Noise from Wixor begins with the title track, a composition that consists of a lot of feedback and ambient noise. The track begins with the ambient noise and then takes on a slightly editorial feeling as a speaker talks about America and how the country has taken on greed as a defining characteristic. “Red Noise” leads directly into the first “musical” track entitle “Avarice”. The hard rock songs expands on the concept from the speech in the first track and creates an almost anthem-like track that many of the Occupy Movement could almost definitely get behind because of the message in the lyrics. The song itself features a strong musical base that alternates between fast riffing and slower playing that would be just perfect for those who still enjoy headbanging. Singer Paul Williams provides a vocal that is more growl than melody, adding even more to the strength of the track. It is on the next track of the album that Wixor creates the one and only cover song on the album. The band gives a stronger energy to the Kenny Loggins classic “Danger Zone” than the original version ever had. The updated version by Wixor feels completely at home amongst the original songs on the album. Whether you are familiar with the original single of “Danger Zone” or not, the band creates a strong arrangement to the song and does nothing to disappoint those who have always been a fan of the song. As “Danger Zone” comes to an end, Wixor takes both the energy and the melodic quality of that song and creates one of the best and strongest tracks on the album: The song “I Remain” features a hard rock quality and really shows off the playing of the entire band for the first time. Paul Williams also proves his talent as a singer on this track, alternating between growls and singing for the three minutes of the track. With the strength in the lyrics, the delivery from Williams and the playing of the rest of the band, it is quite obvious why the band decided to use “I Remain” as the first song to help promote the Red Noise album. Wixor slows the pace down on the song “Redefine” while also raising the energy level of the music. While the vast majority of the lyrics on the new release from the band were written by singer Paul Williams, “Redefine” is one of three songs on the album that feature lyrics by Jason Orr. While not his lyrics, Williams sings the song like he wrote it. “Redefine” ends up being one of the strongest songs on the band’s new release. Red Noise changes directions for the track “Skrap Metal”. For the first two and a half minutes, the band performs some very good instrumental heavy metal. Then, the song changes and heads off into lighter music that features the sound of the acoustic guitar. The slower pace during the acoustic break is balanced by a strong electric guitar solo. The band brings back the metal to finish off the remainder of the song. The ever-changing style makes for an enjoyable seven minutes of listening pleasure. Like the seven-minute “Skrap Metal,” the next track of “End in Hell” also changes pace multiple times during its playing time. The track begins with a light keyboard sound and later features some light electric guitar. The beginning 90 seconds of the song make the listener think that the song has been titled the way it has to add a little contemplation as to its meaning. It isn’t until Williams screams 90 seconds in that the true heaviness of the track shows up. “End in Hell” has the same ever-changing style that “Skrap Metal” had one track previous. Together, the two songs show off the talent of each and every member of Wixor, while also giving the listener some good music to listen to at the same time. Rarely will you ever find a hard rock/heavy metal release that truly brings out the real talent of every member of the band that creates it; however, with Red Noise from Wixor, the thirteen tracks that make up the album feature excellent playing from guitarists Bill Roberts and Alex Capas, bassist Matt Snyder as well as drummer DJ Remark. Together with the vocals from singer Paul Williams, the music from Wixor creates a release that never lets up for the entire 50 minutes of playing time. If you have been looking for a solid heavy metal release, look no further than Red Noise from Wixor."
