Bro J, born Juinus Lee Harris Jr. is one of two children born to Junius L Harris Sr. and Eunice Marie Harris. Being born in Fort Sill Oklahoma makes him a natural born army brat. Being raised along side a younger brother he finds himself traveling to different places around the country and the world. Cities like Fairbanks Alaska, Mannheim Germany, Key West Florida, all with big miles between them, are just a few of the places where Bro J has lived learned and thrived. Just as global is his love for music, which is fervently displayed in his artistic expressions. His list of inspirations is as long as it is broad. Starting with composers like Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, the list shifts to artists like Prince, George Clinton, Stevie Wonder, and resolves with names like Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Israel And New Breed. Not to mention rockers like Cream, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles and The Beatles. He seems to love more different types of music then he dislikes. Bro J believes that music is more than just notes and rhythms. To him it is an actual language. A language that not only makes us dance or sway to a beat or a soothing sound, but a language that actually speaks to our soul in a way that no spoken word or any other sound can. Being spiritual himself Bro J draws from a scripture found in Ezekiel 28 that describes a creature perfectly created by God. Being perfect in all his ways this creature was created with pipes and rhythm instruments as part of his body. Many ministers have said that this creature and God Himself communicated with each other using only musical tones. And when God spoke in the heavens he didn’t need a minister of music to play a doxology, this creature was the living doxology himself. He was also covered with every beautiful jewel, gem, and precious metal you can imagine. It was also said he was so adorned that when God looked upon him he saw only His reflection in the creature. No other creature possessed such abilities. The scripture says that the creature became corrupted by reason of his own brightness and so God cast him to the ground. Today that same creature goes by the name of Satan, but before he was cast down his name was Lucifer. Bro J believes this power over musical tones and rhythms that Lucifer possessed is still being deceptively wielded today. But because the musical tones and rhythms were created by God in the first place then it only makes sense that we should fight tooth and nail to give them back to God through praise and worship, gospel and spiritual music that gives all the glory and honor, to God and to God only.
