Alone Architect is the moniker of musician / producer Jeff Dorenz. From Montreal, Canada and now residing in LA, “Drown” is the follow up single to “Faded”, which was re-leased in late October, 2016. Once again featuring the vocals of Dani Poppitt (of Shal-lows), “Drown” is a dark, glitchy, synth driven song about depression and the way it affects us. It’s a song about how serious depression skews ones per-ception of reality. How one can feel overwhelmed, alone, disjointed and disassociated from accepting help from those around them. It’s about that terrifying drop into nothing-ness, the void. That feeling of drowning, of envelopment. It’s the spiraling, internal monologue. It’s also about the internal battle to gain control of ones self. The battle to see through the mist. To grab control of the wheel. To gain perspective in order to find ways out of the void of despair that so often accompanies depression. It’s a topic that isn’t necessarily always pleasant to face, but that many of us can nonetheless relate to.
