The Journal des Épisodes is a year long daily diary of compositions and drawings. In recent years, I have reduced the music to be played with the trio. This disc contains 97 episodes selected between the 2nd of July and the 31st of December 1988. The trio episodes are interspersed with the new string quintet versions and the WSO excerpts from 1992. This juxtaposition allows me a larger palette of expression. In the liner notes of the first disc I wrote: “Twenty or so years later, I found a world alive, joyful and in constant motion”. Now having worked through all the episodes, I can say that musical composition is never finished. It is in constant mutation and travels through time from many directions and levels at once and when it shows up, it is always with a surprising and unexpected allure.
