Swami Vivekananda (1863 – 1902) is considered the foremost ambassador of the eastern philosophy of Vedanta, to the western world. Together with fellow disciples of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda established the Ramakrishna mission which has served humanity for over 120 years through schools, colleges, hospitals, shelters and spiritual centers worldwide. Swami Vivekananda was a leader of leaders, who was deeply respected by towering persons such as Mahatma Gandhi, Max Muller, Tagore, Nikolai Tesla, Sri Aurobindo, Lord Kelvin, Jamshedji Tata & Rockefeller amongst many others. He traveled extensively in India, USA and UK, delivering lectures on Vedanta at such leading universities as Harvard and Oxford. Swami Vivekananda’s birthday on January 12th is celebrated as National Youth day of India, owing to the inspiration he provides to future generations. The Vedanta is the summary and essence of Hindu scriptures (Vedas) and is among the most ancient, scientific and timeless spiritual treatises of the world, with great relevance to modern life. Vedanta reveals a universal source of all creation and that staying attuned to this source is the key to individual freedom, truth and joy.
