简介
“Sometimes, and I mean sometimes... We are caught unaware of the talent around us. I was so pleased to showcase Zeebz & Miss Vitula on our stage here in lovely Victoria Canada. Their music was unique and original and The Superior was proud to host them. Ahh...if only the walls could do a play back!! Thank you for coming to Victoria!” - Lisa Boehme, The Superior Cafe, Victoria CANADA Musicians at times, like Zebras, can blend into the herd, but each bears it owns distinctiveness; in the uniqueness of a zebras stripes and the originality of an artist’s music, individuality is found. Zeebz vs. Miss Vitula are a stealthy mix of roots, folk and rock; forming a unique and original, entertaining sound, and it's with this sound that they distinguish themselves from the herd. They are a melodious duo who produces music that is luminous at times and mysteriously dark on occasion. They are influenced by a wide range of music; including alternative rock, folk, grunge and soundtrack instrumentals – all of which aid in the creation of their uncommon deep sounds. Established through the use of vocals, violin, 12 and 6 string guitars, stomp box and loop and effects pedals; the pair creates a robust sound. Currently creating their second release, they are taking a new approach to their writing and recording. With a diverse album in mind, the pair are drawing inspiration from the roots of their influences from a range of styles, including composers such as, Harry-Gregson Williams (Narnia), Howard Shore (Lord of the rings), Hans Zimmer (Pirates of the Caribbean), and artists such as, John Butler, Jeff Buckley and Alice In Chains. A creative album combining a deep artistic approach with a story to tell is on the horizon and scheduled for release mid-2014. In late 2013, after returning from a 3 month tour of British Columbia, Canada, the former Central Queensland duo now call Ballarat, Victoria home. Having performed together frequently throughout the last 3 years (as a duo and in the group Whyte Zebra), the pair have accomplished a number of achievements. Including receiving two government arts grants, performing on Channel 7’s TV show Queensland Weekender, recording and producing two independent albums, and hosting various song writing and guitar workshops (as part of their previous group, Whyte Zebra). In June 2012, they released their debut album ‘No Pain, No Gain’ which featured 9 original tracks about life and world issues seen through the eyes of ‘Zeebz’ (Andy Stanhope) and a soulful rendition of Bill Withers hit ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’. Miss Vitula (Bec Romeo) takes a singing violin into the haunting dark depths and back to realization with melodic, harmonious melodies; all the while capturing her uncanny ability to harmonise with Zeebz’s guitar and vocal melodies. With the use of slide and alternative tunings on an array of 12 and 6 string guitars; Zeebz’s attributes shine through via numerous solos and guitar licks, supporting the depths of his song writing. From frequently performing in their Central Queensland home town, to busking on the streets of Granville Island, Vancouver, to performing in elegant cafes and venues around British Columbia, Canada, and to the now of performing at bars, cafe's and farmers markets in Victoria, Australia; the pair are receiving a rush and an encouraging amount of positive feedback towards their music. It's passion and determination that drives the two with the dream of being self-sustainable, full time musicians.
