They should put on hold when you call the suicide hotline and play this over the phone, so maybe we could thin out the crybaby weakling population. (Hey I used to want to snuff my life out too, now I just want to snuff out everybody else's!) Or better yet, play this in all those highrise corporate office buildings, maybe I could scratch myself up a free suit for when I want to convince all those fame seeking out of town bimbos, that clog L.A., that I'm a rich casting agent. It's not that I'm insensitive, it's just that I don't give a sh*t about you. Actually, I find this CD kind of interesting, unlike the fact that you are still living. -Pookie Illinois Entertainer review 9/95 Whether "Hello Frank" the first trackon thisdisc,refers to Frank Raven (the musician who wrote & performed it) or to Frank Zappa(the man who clearly was an influence) is probably open to discussion, but one cannot argue that this five song set titled The Sadness Of Winter,is a stellar effort. Each tune is a noise collage, combining bits of saxophone, flute, keyboards, Tibetan bells, and voice samples into an enticing sonic blend. The aggressively jazzy sound is unusual and certainly untraditional, and the artist pushes the boundaries just enough to make this collection pleasing and worthwhile. -JB
