简介
Bluefire has built an impressive fanbase while touring extensively in major cities across the U. S. including New York, Chicago, Cleveland, and Nashville. With 24 outstanding press reviews, Bluefire has been hailed as the next "it" band with virtuosic abilities second to none. Here's what the press is saying: NY Cool Magazine (At Don Hills) The first was a band called Blue Fire. I swear it was like watching a young Dave Mustaine resurrect the original Metallica line-up. Lead guitarist/vocalist Joshua “Pix” Karickhoff and his cousin bassist vocalist Gus “Bigman” Ward endangered the ears and minds of every audience member throughout their fifteen minutes. They displayed some of the most technically-advanced musicianship I had ever heard. Watching Blue Fire perform was almost frightening, knowing they will one day be playing to sold-out stadiums; they were that good. Guitar Nine Records Their five-song demo features aggressive, throbbing hard rock and tortured, prodigiously heavy metal with fast and precise melodic runs, augmented by a killer vibrato. Head-chopping riffs give way to incendiary solos and fills - this is a young band that takes their practicing seriously and strives to deliver a quality experience. What's Up Magazine The long-haired, rocker-looking Karickhoff - wise and talented beyond his years - emerged as one of just three finalist ...from the greater Cleveland metropolitan area for The Guitar Center competiton. GoErie.com When scorching blues-rocker Joe Bonamassa plays Forward Hall, Bluefire will open...they're not only fiery but cut from the same youthful mold.. musically, they'e already got it going, displaying beyond-their-years chops on challenging material. Meadville Tribune These days, calling Bluefire committed to their craft is an understatement. While Josh "Pix" fingers feverishly dancing up and down his seven-string neck, Karickhoff seemed to play the guitar like a skilled mathematician plays numbers - exacting and studious. Ward played both rhythm and bass on his six-string, tapping and slapping and keeping the track in Earth's atmosphere until time signatures switched and both sent listeners' ears to a wierdly operatic landscape of acutely executed, uncanny speed. Meadville Tribune Like it’s their job, they jumped seamlessly from the wail of “Does Experience Pay (DEP),” to the acid-blues and power-rock infusion of the instrumental “Larry, Jerry Barry and Dan,” to the teeth-bared stomp of “Initiation.” Put simply, “that was really good,” 16-year-old Brea Schroek said, looking amazed and at a loss for words after seeing and hearing Bluefire perform live for the first time. That’s understandable because in a popular musical climate that’s largely absent of real rock and real rockers, Bluefire’s sound is richly-detailed, fast, sharp and mean. LiveJournal Bluefire was next to perform. These guys blew away the audience with their set... Keep an eye on these guys... Akron Beakon Journal I noticed immediately that Bluefire was more tight and polished than even just a month or two ago. With a tried and true power tio format, Bluefire likes to rock. Near the end of the set Josh K. pulled out the stops with a few tricks borrowed from the master, Jimi Hendrix. With maximum distortion and feedback he wailed through his version of Hendrix without aping Hendrix note for note. Later, when the band joined him, Josh flung his guitar over his head and continued to riff with full force. The fact that Bluefire desires to go back and discover where their art came from will probably help them in the future. I am reminded of the Stones or Clapton immersing themselves in the music of the old blues masters...and that is not a bad model to follow. GoErie.com Bluefire has put more emphasis on writing originals, they don't shy away from the complex but try to whip it into a shape that's accessible. "Hey kids! Remember when... guitar virtuosos ruled and fleet-fingered guitar geeks such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani had platinum records and seemingly held steady gigs on the cover of guitar magazines? No less an innovator than Eddie Van Halen himself dubbed fusion master Allan Holdsworth king of virtousic guitar followed by fellow legato fiend Frank Gambale... Yngwie Malmsteen was the Paganini of classical-style rock guitar....64th notes at blinding speeds, fancy chord progressions not usually found in rock, and eight-fingered hammer-ons like that guy in Night Ranger used to whip out for a couple of songs on each album?...It's for those folks that I announce the Hi-Fi Club in Lakewood appearance of Bluefire on Friday night. The Pennsylvania power trio features Josh ``Pix,'' a guitar phenom who already has an endorsement from In-Tune Picks. He won the Guitarmageddon Contest held by the Guitar Center competing against 240 guitarists from five states. The band's sound -- a mostly instrumental amalgam of nu-metal's low end start-stop dynamics, a bit of mainstream rock and the occasional foray into the complex time signatures associated with math metal (nu-mainstream metal mathrock?) -- has industry sharks circling. After hearing a few of the band's songs on their Web site, bluefireband.com, I can tell you that Pix, who plays one of those seven-string monkey-grip Ibananez guitars that nobody but Steve Vai (for whom it was built) and other guitar geeks own, is indeed a shredder. - Akron Beacon Journal *Bluefire's song "Change" was chosen by Bare Metal Records to be on a complilation cd to be distributed to our troops in Irag and Afghanistan. 2000 copies will be pressed and the project is called Operation: "Rock Our Troops". *Josh (Bluefire's guitarist) finished 4th in San Francisco at the Guitar Hero 2006 competition. *Josh (Bluefire's guitarist) chosen as a top 10 finalist out of 3000 entries for Guitar Hero 2006 by Guitar Player Magazine *Bluefire chosen for MeanyFest *Bluefire chosen to perform with Billy Morris of Quiet Riot! *Bluefire chosen for Lavapalooza Festival! *Video Chosen for Adrenaline Nation TV *Featured Band on 104.7 FM I-RADIO LA. *Josh "Pix" recieves endorsement deal with In-tune picks. *Featured in the AMG National A & R Tip Sheet. *Chosen for AMG National Showcase in NYC (at the request of TVT Records and Koch Entertainment after reps seen them live in Cleveland). *Chosen for International New York Music Festival where they were awarded "Best Teenage Rock Band". *Chosen for Xtreme Music Festival *Chosen for Great Lakes Music Festival *Chosen for Affinity Music Festival *Lead guitarist, Josh "Pix" was winner of the renouned Guitarmageddon Contest held by the Guitar Center Store Chain - He competed against 240 guitarist from 5 states. *Awarded "Best Rock Band" in the NY International Music Fesival where they competed against 62 bands. *Awarded "Best New Artists" at the Great Lakes Music Festival. *2-time standing ovation at the Nashville Showcase held by Affinity Music Group Bluefire is the greatest rock band to come out of their generation. At the end of 2005, the band was picked up by the exclusive management division of AMG in NYC after AMG heard their EPK. They won "Best Band" from the New York International Music Festival and "Best New Artist" from the Great Lakes Music Video Contest. "Their five-song demo features aggressive, throbbing hard rock and tortured, prodigiosly heavy metal with fast and precise melodic runs, augmented by a killer birato. Head-chopping riffs give way to incendiary solos and fills" Guitar Nine The band plays to packed shows across the country, from Cleveland to NYC to Nashville where they are rapidly creating a "buzz" for their virtuosic talents. Josh "Pix" has been compared to Daron Malakian (System Of A Down), Synyster Gates (Avenged Sevenfold), Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) and Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge) while bass player, Gus, has been compared to Shavo Odadjian (System Of A Down), Johnny Christ (Avenged Sevenfold), John Moyer(Disturbed) and Dan (Skindred). The drummer Matt Luft is perhaps one of the best virtuosic drummers in the entire midwest region and is compared to Mike Portnoy, Dave Wekl, and Virgil Donati. The band's hard work ethic and rigorous touring schedule makes them the hottest young band in the U. S. BlueFire is focused to perfection and giving their audiences a show to remember. At a showcase which featured 180 bands, BlueFire stole the night with audience members standing on tables and chairs to hear them play. They are influenced by the most respected artists in the inudstry: John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Stu Hamm, Billy Sheehan, John Bonham, Neil Pert and many more. Don't take our word for it - Read the Press Reviews! Bluefire started in 2002 with the idea of giving people "a great performance". They also wanted to display a level of talent that would leave audiences speechless. They wanted people to be so impressed that the next show would double or triple in size. The hard work has paid off. BlueFire has reached the point where other rock bands simply do not want to play on the same ticket - Why? Because BlueFire steals the show and the audience. Regionally, they are a sold-out act and the size of their fan-base is phenominal. Bluefire completed their debut release, Pain, Principles & Promsies at the Lava Room in Cleveland - the studio that laid down tracks for Velvet Revolver, Fear Factory, Judas Priest, Altar Bridge and others. They sold hundreds of copies of the new cd the first month it was released and sell them on a regular basis at shows.
