Richard McCready is a composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist, living in the beautiful state of Maryland, USA. On "Jesse James and Other Low-down Folk" Richard demonstrates his love of old English and American folk by taking some well-loved ballads (Jesse James, Blow Away The Morning Dew, High Germany) and setting them to modern tunes, often using unusual time signatures and phrase lengths. He adds two folk-style originals composed specially for this album (Snow Dance, On A Bank) and rounds off the collection with a favorite traditional song (Wading Deep Waters).

On this album Richard McCready performs all the vocals and plays every instrument, including acoustic guitar, electric guitar, dobro, requinto, banjolele, bass and washboard. He is joined by long-time collaborator Jared Denhard, who plays whistles, recorders and banjolele on "Snow Dance."
