Chuck Nation, Susan, Nation, Curtis Blackwell, along with a variety of other select musicians, are the Nation & Blackwell Band--award winning performers with a lifetime of musical experience. Chuck's multi-instrumental skills, Susan's song writing talent, and Curtis' authentic high lonesome vocals combine to make Nation & Blackwell one of the most entertaining and versatile groups in Bluegrass music. Close harmony vocals and superb instrumental playing is their trademark. This album is a prime example of the repertoire which includes old favorites, modern songs, and original material. Chuck Nation grew up in Georgia playing music learned from his dad, was a member of Louisville, Ky.'s Bluegrass Alliance(from which the likes of Vince Gill, Sam Bush, & Tony Rice also came), and has been privileged to perform with many of the first generation Bluegrass greats. He has won music competitions with every instrument, and is both a Louisiana and Georgia State Champion. In addition to vocals, he plays all the fiddle, mandolin, and guitar on this album. Curtis Blackwell lives in North Carolina, and is a member of the Atlanta Country & Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor. He was recognized in 2010 by the International Bluegrass Music Association as one of the "Pioneers of Bluegrass." He was a member of Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys and sang lead and played guitar with the acclaimed Father of Bluegrass Music. When people hear Curtis for the first time they all say the same thing--"he's the real deal." Susan Nation is a gifted singer/songwriter and bass player who grew up in a musical family in Louisiana. Her father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all played the fiddle, not to mention she married a fiddle player! All three of her children play music and performed with her and Chuck while growing up. A prolific songwriter, 4 of her songs are included in this album, and her singing is always a popular feature of every show. She is also the on-call bass player for various regional groups in addition to singing and coordinating the music in church. Gary "Biscuit" Davis holds the distinction of being the only 4-time winner of the Winfield National Banjo Championship, most recently in 2012. In the last 40 years nobody else has ever won it more than twice. Gary is a regular featured performer at Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, TN, and teaches private lessons and workshops. He co-produced Dolly Parton's bluegrass album " Halos & Horns in 2002, was Dolly Parton's band leader and toured with her after the album's release. Jim Pankey lives in Georgia and is a Tennessee State Banjo Champion. He teaches old time and bluegrass banjo lessons, has written for Banjo Newsletter, and is featured on this album on "Where The Church Bells Ring."
