"Said & Heard" began as a few songs for a demo and soon became a full production EP. Working tirelessly with Texas based producer Phlip Coggins, these songs sprang to life in the studio. Encompasing the emotions from a beautiful relationship that eventually didn't work out, this EP is one that so many people can relate to. A little bit about each of the 5 songs- Meet Me In The Middle- The opening song is based around the idea of the point in a relationship where you're passed the honeymoon stage and it's time to take it to the next level. In this experience, I was ready to take it to the next level, but she wasn't. This is my of saying, "I'm here for you, but I'm not putting any more effort into this relationship until you do." Carry You- The second song is about carrying the baggage of a failed relationship for too long. I think we all do this from time to time. The lyrics are about working through and getting over that. It's about acceptance and forgiveness to her as well as myself. Sometimes I think we can get jaded and think that it's always the other person's fault. But sometimes things just don't work out. I'm essentially telling her that I will never forget her, but I finally understand why she left. It Wont Be Easy- After the relationship went south, I was pretty bummed about it. The girl said some pretty awful stuff to me and that what the chorus is. Eventually I got over it and moved on. After not having not spoken to each other in months, she wants to get back together. Remembering back to the time when it ended, I used the same words she said to me before. Does it make me a bad person? Listen to the song and decide for yourself. (I Can't) Sleep Through This- It's a metaphor for "get up and make it happen". I think everyone faces the feeling of complacency from time to time. Sometimes you roll with it and keep going, and sometimes you quit your job the next day and start playing shows, or doing whatever it is that you really love to do. San Francisco- Somewhere in between the bitterness and acceptance of this experience, this song came about. It started off as a handwritten letter to the girl from the previous songs. It was never supposed to be a song, only a farewell to the one that got away. She moved to San Francisco without a word, just up and left one day. Fast forward to writing this letter: I wanted to mail it out to her so I could have whatever closure there was from knowing she knew how I felt. As I went to put it in the mailbox, my hand slipped and the letter fell out. I took that as a sign that she wasn't supposed to get that letter. So I came home and put it to music and it became my favorite song on the EP. It's the most raw and sincere thing I've ever done and I still think about her when I play it.
