简介
Born March 2nd 1986 in Dallas TX to Ghanaian parents,Dexter Owusu also known as N-Dex developed a unique taste for music at an early age. His first influences were the likes of RNB groups like New Edition,The Boys and Boys 2 Men.His love for music captured his parents attention so much that they bought him a drum set,and even enrolled him for piano lessons. By the age of ,he first heard the Dr Dre Classic-The Chronic-and from then on he was trying to write rhymes."That cd was the rawest thing I had ever heard in my life and still is",He recalls. Growing up his parents at some point had to go separate ways, which ended in a bitter divorce that had Dexter at the point of picking sides, and just like any boy would do-he moved with his mother and his two younger brothers. After Living with different family relatives from Ghana to Chicago ,he moved to Oklahoma city, where he picked up his music ambition once more. "I remember i went up to Navi's apartment and he had a little drum machine and he was just cool enough to let me rock it as long as i wanted". By his junior year in high school,he was even teaching production work to some of his peers, even birthing the prodigy known as J-Mal. "He used to come hang with my brother and i'd be in his ear all day about how to sample drums and put up patterns"-J-Mal states. He then found a studio which was close to his job known as Klubhouse,a move that was opened to him by Navi of the cutthroat MC's,this is when he got moreserious about rapping than ever.Even though he was close to the production work,he had a quick ability to finish up 16's in no time and was ghostwriting and started producing his own album. With his senior year of high school, coming to an end and his politics about picking a school either in Oklahoma,or elsewhere he decided to stay, and then he met future business partner Preston P-54 Veales.Veales who was just fresh off a New York City Club tour had noticed the young man's ability, but still not recognize him for his lyrical greatness."Yea i knew he was sick with the beats, but i aint even give him a chance to rap" as stated by P-54. Now on his way to Oklahoma state University,he formed his own production company BLACKFACE,which is now also a Hip Hop group as well, and decided to pair up with Prestons GP Productions to form a core Oklahoma Hip Hop Label that would take over the game. With projects like Pain and Southside,G-Man-Slave to da mic,Freshmen-Hellweek,Blackface-Greeklife all done under his belt,he is now moving to drop his 1st actual ALBUM-that he has been working on for 2 years.N-Dex-The GhanaBoy is a piece of art that is not to be categorized as just rap."Man that album is soo sick, that it took me 2 years to realize it,i even deleted like 75% of the songs and replaced them."-Dexter states. With shocking stage performances, witty, funny and educational punchlines, and master production work the "reference page" is probably the first of its kind.
