Naomi Sunderland is a Brisbane based singer-songwriter who grew up in country New England, New South Wales, Australia. Sunderland’s previous albums Red Dirt Road (2006) and Stitches (2009) won international acclaim for their country folk inspired range of upbeat songs and ballads and her characteristic intimate vocal and lyrical style. Naomi’s new Water EP (2013) features exciting new collaborations that have moved her work toward an ambient folk sound. Naomi has worked with a range of inspiring Brisbane producers and musicians to produce the EP including: EP producer, arranger, and guitarist Phil Graham (Phil Graham Band); producer and vocalist Carly Dickenson (Anise); producer Tom Hunt (Grand Pavilion); cellist and string arranger Briony Luttrell (Mr Maps); violinist Andrew Ward; viola player and arranger Richard Grantham; bassist Mike Howlett (Gong); bassist Peter Willersdorf (the Dukes); piano, keyboard and french horn player Aled Humphrys (Bandito Folk); and vocalist Macushla Peek. Naomi is also a Research Fellow in community music and wellbeing at the Queensland Conservatorium. The position allows her to combine her love of music and learning.
