The original song, I Follow Rivers, was written by a Swedish artist named Lykke Li and had inspired a film director whom I once met who challenged me to create a darker, less commercial cover version of her song in consideration for an indie film he was constructing. While not too fond of covers, nor commercial pop, I listened to the song the director was referring to and actually thought it would be an interesting project to try, as the original version had, in my own opinion, a great degree of artistic integrity.

Because the song originally was sung by a female artist, Spanish artist, Elena Vazquez-Prada Simon accompanied the track on backing vocals in order to captivate a bit more of the original version's sonic elements.
