Hip hop music tends to be my genre because I can express my feelings about problems in this world, and I can say much more than I would be able to do in other genres. I'm not by any means undermining other genres being able to convey the same message in less words. Other genre writers definitely have the talent to do so, but as for me, I got a lot to say and I want to say it. I don't know if I'd have the talent to write a more simplified version of a track and still convey the same message. So kudos to the other genres that can do it. My hip hop music has an awareness feel to it. Take Eminem's style and cross breed him with Macklemore's lyrics and you may have something close to The Prince of Cats. There are a lot of rappers out there trying to send a positive message and I love it. I like trying to convey a message to bring up, give hope, inspire, and change. That's not to say all the listeners will get that. A lot of rap music these days, are just plain degrading and demeaning. Rap music for me has been a savoir in a sense. I like that I can jot down my thoughts Through my darkest of times I have been able to climb out of that hole. I've wept, been inspired, laughed, and felt invincible. I love that I have had fans tell me that they have cried and been inspired by a track I made. It's uplifting and heart warming. It is hard sometimes to keep plugging away in the music industry because the rewards are much less than what an artist gives to their creations. Some people are willing to buy a cup of coffee at 4 bucks that an employee took a minute to make, but not buy a track for a dollar that took an artist hours and hours of writing, producing, and recording. That's why CD baby and online distribution is such a great thing. You can get people who support independent artists from all over the world to hear and listen to your tracks. So thanks to the fans out there that support independent artists. Please keep doing so, sharing, and hitting that "like" button because we don't have the media and funds putting us out there.
