简介

Thank You. I thank GOD and his orchestration of the universe. Even though most of the time we don’t act like it everyone on the planet is connected. I thank U, the person who is reading this right now, for listening and taking the time to get to know me through my music and words. I thank my sister Lou-Ann my most valued friend, supporter and fan. My Mother Norva, the only person in my life who is worthy of such a magnificent title, my family Joshua, Ayn, Joanna, Dexter, my Father Sydney Jackson my two Best Friends Shelly & Sabena for being supportive, listening, giving great advice and getting how my brain works. All my good friends & cool colleagues at Just Energy, u know who U R. Everyone who’s name or initials appear anywhere on this insert, as they played a monumental role in making this EP happen. Special and BIG THANK You to Anthony Wright, Jasmine Jones and Tim Ball, u guys held it down. Words can’t even express how grateful and lucky I am to have had u involved. U got inside my head and made my dream a reality when I didn’t even know what my dream would sound like. There were moments I wanted to cry because I just couldn’t believe that I was actually getting the project done and getting it done so WELL. Thank u to Roger Sader, Mark Pellizzer, Diego Las Heras and Rich Grossman for making my “live” sound, sound “live”. Thanks Sub for the beats ‘Love U But Don’t Like U’. I thank the individuals who I have had the pleasure of meeting, playing/working with, hanging and rapping about the industry with or sharing a stage with over the years. Once again with all sincerity THANK U. SoJay It took some time to put this album together these are songs I have written over the years and they just all came together for this project. I did not think I would ever be able to record an album the way that I wanted let alone have it out there for purchase and check it out it's here for YOU. Please listen to the lyrics and I hope you find something there that is relevant to you and what is going on in your life. You can see lyrics on my website if you are interested. When I took the acoustic tracks to my producer I told him I wanted it to sound like "THIS" and showed him a painting of a dude playing the keyboard but his arms were elongated and he looked chill and at peace with everything I think the artists name is David Garibaldi. Anthony got what I was trying to convey and the musicians that he got to perform on the album all got it too. It was an amazing process and I can’t imagine what life could possibly have been like if I did not go through this process. Blvd of Dreams, the first track on the album is about my struggle with being an independent artist and having a 9-5 and how it sucks. 30’s, Track 2 is self explanatory. No matter what age you are you never expect life to be the way it is. Quiver is my baby making track. Everyone has to have one of those on their CD I think. Love you but Don’t like you was inspired by an ex-boyfriend(Of Course) and I loved him at the time but he used to do things that would make me say, ”I don’t like you right now” and the song was born. Things to Think about was inspired by my place of employment my 9-5 and the people in the call centre. Gossip, He said She Said, always being up in other people’s business, be more constructive. Immediate Needs is about wanting what you want but appreciating what you got and the stuff that happens in between, no regrets. Sentimental was inspired by that same dude, during an argument he said, ”Do you think that this is a Movie” meaning that I am idealistic and living in a dream world. I did not like that statement very much cause I believe your reality is what you make it and if you want to live a life that others may think is fantasy they are just jealous so more power to you. I hope you can make it happen, that is what I am trying to do. That line turned into the opening line of my song. Wouldn’t it be funning if this song ended up being the catalyst towards making my dreams or ‘fantasy’ come true or even better ended up in a movie sound track LOL. Inspiration was inspired by this guy that I met who lived in Atlanta at the time but was visiting Toronto with some friends. We hit it off and it was great (while it lasted). Wrote a song about it want to here it…Play it. Used by You is once again about that same dude man I wrote a lot of songs about this relationship, so once again kind of self explanatory. I am a pretty chill person and like doing nice things for the people I care about, well more so for the people I care about but people in general. Some people reciprocate and some don’t the rest well, it’s in the song. Hey! Sister, well if you are a sister I am talking to you, keep your head up and don’t let anyone drag you down! Non Sense, is just a fun track, it is a whole song but I thought I would leave you wanting more (hopefully it worked) and I would do the whole thing at live performances, but it’s just about life not making sense and that is one of the few things you can count on, nothing make any senses at all. Thoughts of you, so there was a time when I would go with a friend to Chicago to work at a studio out there (it no longer exists) and there was a dude there that I was attracted to and he was into me as well, but I had a man and I was not about to step out on my man so I wrote a song about it. There you go a little insight to each song on the album. I don’t think I have broken this down for anyone before so feel special please (as you are) but it goes to show you that all of these songs come from an intimate place within me. So it’s definitely like we are officially meeting. Enjoy. SoJay Oh and FYI. I have lent my vocal stylings to the following other projects so check them out as well when you have some time.
