简介
Mick Overman's fifth and newest cd is the first to be presented as a "Mick Overman & The Maniacs" project. The concept evolved as this lineup of musicians performed together over the four years following the release of "Authentic" and the addition of Patrick O'Connor to the band. O'Connor's creative contributions in terms of songwriting and his unique electric mandolin textures provide additional colors to an already diverse spectrum. "Good Thing Happen" continues Overman's collaboration with bassist and vocalist Craig Owens which has evolved for over 30 years. Mick comments that "Jim Norris is one of the deepest and most spiritual drummers I've ever worked with and recording with him after many years of association reperesents the completion of one of my career goals". When Cookie Marenco joined the team as engineer and coproducer another key element emerged. Marenco has long been recognized as one of the recording industry's most influential women and brought a new perspective to the production and recording of Overman's work. Mick notes that "It's the first time that a woman's point of view has so dramatically influenced the making of one of my records". Overman is a Bay Area Legend and “Iron Man Of The Road”. He’s a poet and a master musician and “Bluesy Folk & Roll with Jazz Attitude” is the best description of his music and performance. His singing and guitar playing are accurately described as “Berklee College of Caveman”. Overman has long been regarded as one of the west coast’s hardest working (as many as 379 performances in one year) and prolific artists. In addition to being an impactful and dynamic solo performer Overman's band consistently features some of the bay area's most gifted and talented musicians.
