简介
At 26, Adam Tendler has already collaborated with some of the world's most influential musicians. In 2003, he graduated early with distinction from Indiana University School of Music to begin co-authoring a second edition of The History of American Classical Music by John Warthen Struble and Philip Glass. The book led to the conception of America 88x50, Tendler's headline-grabbing piano recital tour project in which he lived out of his car for a year and independently teamed with arts organizations in all fifty states to perform free concerts of modern American music for underserved communities. After the tour, Tendler moved to Houston, TX, where he currently serves as Artistic Director of Foundation for Modern Music, a nonprofit that supports and presents the work of living composers. Tendler also maintains a private teaching studio, several compositional and literary projects, and is a regular contributor to NPR Houston. Tendler's own works include Concerto for mixed ensemble and the Psalm Cantata: Eight Meditations on a Theme by Mendelssohn through Psalm 119. He is currently touring with Autumn Lines, his first extended work for amplified pianist, as well as the complete John Cage Sonatas and Interludes for prepared piano, which he performs from memory.
