简介
The culture of the Shona people: for centuries Shona people of Zimbabwe have always believed in the guidance by the spirits of the ancestors. Mbira music plays a central role as linch pin between the living people and the spiritual world. In all night ritual ceremonies called bira, the mystic power of mbira music summons the ancestral spirits (midzimu). We believe that there is musika vamhu (meaning the Creator of people). Midzimu help us to connect with musika vanhu. They come and inhabit (kupotera) in a human being called homwe (literally meaning pocket). This is a spirit medium. Shona people consult and talk to the ancestors for daily guidance and spiritual healing. PASICHIGARE describes this ancient way of living respecting the sacred indigenous traditional culture of connecting with the spirits of ancestors.
